Development of a prototype composite index for resilience and security of water-energy-food (WEF) systems in industrialised nations

The Water-Energy-Food (WEF) nexus is a dynamic and complex system, in which the resources of water, energy, food are inextricably linked. system faces number threats including man-made hazards, e.g. overpopulation, urbanisation, ageing population, terrorism geopolitical upheaval, natural hazards such as climate change extreme weather events. General indicators for WEF provide information on current access availability energy to population. However, industrialised nations UK, often masked by consistently high resources. This paper proposes composite resilience index formed aggregating two sets indicators: one representing level terms three sectors; other population at household level. accessibility were calculated separately within food, sectors.
